News: Office moving trends in New York September 1, 2010 No Comments
As an office moving company in New York we know that the average office leasing transaction has fallen to just 5,700 square feet. That’s a roughly 50 percent drop from the peak of 10,500 square feet in 1997, according to data the CoStar Group provided to The Real Deal.
This means more shared offices and open floor plans, and far fewer rooms of one’s own.”It affects what the recovery looks like — it’s fueled more by smaller tenants and less by large,” said Josh Scoville, director of U.S. research at CoStar.
In this shaky economy, these smaller companies also have the upside of moving to spaces prebuilt by the landlord rather than shelling out tenant improvement dollars. That’s adding 10 to 15 percent more in “prebuild costs” for Kaufman’s buildings. The extra investment funds more glass, nicer light fixtures and even granite countertops in kitchen areas to lure good tenants.”
If you need help for your office move in New York, no matter if you are moving into a larger or smaller place we are the office moving company in NY to call. Our expertise in office moving recommends us for the most special NY office moving activities.

How to Unpack more Efficient. 10 Easy Steps June 18, 2010 No Comments
Unpacking and finding the perfect place for your belongings in the new home can be quite exciting. The thrill of a new beginning will bust your energy level and help you outrun the challenge. Here are some simple steps to unpack after the move and are helpful when you don’t have a lot of time.
Once at your new place you must start unpacking and since you have a lot of work ahead, you want to do it as efficiently as possible. If you can have the rooms cleaned before the boxes arrive, unpacking will be a more pleasant experience. While cleaning and preparing the new place you should make small mental notes or even draw a sketch of what to put and where. It is useful to know exactly where each piece of furniture goes, because if you make a plan first, you only have move it once.
1. Check the list to see if all the boxes are in the right rooms. After the moving company brings all the boxes, you must make sure everything is placed as labeled (kitchen, bathroom, kid’s room, etc.).
2. Unpack your “essential box”. This box must include all the necessary items such as medicine or clean clothes that will get you trough the first few nights.
3. Unpack the bedroom items and put the beds together. It is likely that later in the evening you will feel much to tired to do this and a clean fresh bed just waiting for you will seem a blessing.
4. Next unpack the kitchen. If you’ve properly labeled the boxes, you should be able to locate what you need pretty easy. If you don’t have much time, unpack only what you need, including pots and pans, plug in the major and small appliances like the fridge and coffee pot.
5. In the bathroom you should unpack the necessary things first. Everything that will make the first days easier: shower products, fresh towels, toothpaste and so on.
6. Arrange the furniture in the living room. Large pieces that need assembling should be completed once you know where furniture will be placed.
7. Organize the closets, book shelves, cupboards and drawers.
8. The patio, the garage or the garden are the last in the unpack list. Since most items that go here aren’t of vital use, try to organize the space and plan how to keep it functional. This may include some mending, extra shelving, storage boxes, etc…
9. Fold and store the packing materials. It is actually a good idea to keep as much boxes as possible. They are easy to store just by folding (in the attic or garage) and will come in handy at you future move.
10. Take some time to review everything. See you’ve got covered all the things in the home inventory list created for the move. All done!
Packing Materials for your Kitchen June 16, 2010 No Comments
Preparing for the move? Since the kitchen usually contains the most items, and sometimes the hardest to pack, it’s a good place to start. When packing your kitchen it is important to be really organized. Prior to pack anything try to have everything handy and ready. Decide witch items need to be packed and witch items can be donated or are dispensable.
These are the packing materials you will need:
- Wrapping paper or unprinted news wrap
- Bubble wrap
- Boxes with thick walls
- Packing sealing tape
- Marker and labels
- Box cell kits
Now that you have everything prepared you can start packing. More posts about this will follow. Have fun!
Moving with children June 9, 2010 1 Comment
Here is a short tip list to take into consideration when moving with children. In order to make the move as easy as possible for them the best bet is to get them involved and keep a positive attitude.
- Tell your children about the move as early and as much as possible. Discuss the move in an open family forum and break the news about the move to everyone in the family together. Be sure your child understands that the move is a positive event for the whole family.
- Involve the kids in the moving process. They can help you plan the route your family will take to your new home or let them decorate and label their own boxes and pack their “special belongings.”
- Take the “mystery” out of the move by taking the children to see their new home and neighborhood, introduce them to their new neighbors. This will reassure children that they will make new friends after the move.
- Maintain daily routines as much as possible. Parents can provide some comfort by keeping some things the same. For instance, having the same nap times, meal times or play hours might be comforting, especially for younger children.
- Take a day to celebrate the new move and the fact that they have been helpful all along. Let the children pick the activity to “celebrate” the move successful and the beginning of a new adventure.
